Client Testimonials
“I am not a contractor but a homeowner who knows nothing about this process. Malcolm was excellent in leading us through this process of redesigning to meet the criteria required by FEMA and the township. He and his staff went beyond their required boundaries to help explain and point us in the right direction to get the job done. Malcolm & his staff could not have done a better job for us. They are very knowledgeable of the requirements of FEMA. We would recommend Malcolm and staff to anyone.”
“We added on a set of rooms to our house for my mother-in-law to be able to move in with us. Malcolm did an excellent job in helping us define the overall job, draft up the plans, and helped us make sure we met the various codes of our local municipality. I would definitely use Malcolm again should I ever need building plans drawn up again. Even my builder said Malcolm’s plans were the most detailed he has ever worked with.”
“Malcolm and Staff Were Great. My home in Ortley Beach, NJ was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. It took some time to gather the funding to rebuild and since I was living 200 miles away, I hired my first architect that was closer to where I was living. After an extended time – five months – I had construction drawings – or so I thought. Even though the first architect was in New Jersey and should have known the codes, builders had a difficult time doing proposals, claimed they could not apply for permits with the drawings, and said they had to be redrawn. One of the builders recommended Malcolm Burton, AIA and I am very happy with the result. Malcolm redid the design, exchanged drawings via email, and worked with me over the phone via conference calls. His detailed designer was excellent and the staff put up with my changes and questions. They certainly understood the idiosyncrasies of the local building department so that there would be minimal issues when applying for permits. They were also able to do the piling foundation design, understood new and advanced construction techniques, handled all hurricane and flood design criteria, and produced a clear and complete set of drawings. The pricing was very reasonable and the professionalism was exemplary. If I ever need any architectural work in the future, Malcolm Burton, AIA would be my choice. I highly recommend this firm.”
“I found Malcolm by searching the internet after Hurricane Sandy. I didn’t have any references on Malcolm prior to working with him and was really pleased that I found a top notch architect (lucky as well!!). Malcolm was a pleasure to work with. He is incredibly thorough and worked with us through each step of the design process. He was a wealth of knowledge and information and helped to guide us to make the best decisions understanding the goals, budget and timelines of our project. Needless to say, the days and months after Sandy were a bit chaotic in trying to figure out what was and was not allowable with respect to reconstruction was difficult. Malcolm was able to provide us with a sense of clarity and comfort as we made the decisions required to get our project off the ground. I would highly recommend Malcolm and trust him to bring the same level of professionalism and expertise to others that he brought to us. “
“It went extremely well. Malcolm did a great job capturing what we wanted and incorporating everything into the final drawings. We could not be happier.”
“Utmost Professional! Malcolm is an intelligent, approachable professional with only his clients’ best interests in mind. He re-designed a shore cottage for us in a timely manner, accommodating our needs and suggesting better ways to go about our plans. We appreciated his guidance, and sweet demeanor. We were privileged to work with Malcolm. And would wholeheartedly do so again, and recommend him to others. You cannot do better than Malcolm Burton in an architect.”
“Mr. Burton was the ultimate professional from my first phone contact with him through our plan design and review through his planning board appearances and the ultimate completion of our project. There wasn’t a detail missed or glitch solved. It is rare to find people as competent and easy to work with as Malcolm. I deal with design professionals and contractors in five states in my line of work and wish they all were as good !
I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment in recommending his services.”
“Excellent – The drawings were necessary to obtain permits for the repairs of damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. He estimated that the work would take three weeks. We requested that he try to finish as soon as possible as we needed to vacate the rented house by 10/15/2014. He finished in a week. He had to submit a clarification to the Toms River zoning department which was completed in less than an hour. There is a very good possibility that we may have our permits by the end of this week. What else can I say but he is outstanding.”
“We were thoroughly pleased with Malcolm Burton’s designing our new house. His team’s attention to detail was impressive.”
“Malcolm was great! Very professional, responsive. He does a lot of work in the Jersey Shore thus knew exactly what the Town requirements were. He helped me submit plans ahead of a construction moratorium and the job was completed before the shutdown. He even met me on a Saturday morning to hand deliver the plans as I don’t live near the Jersey Shore.”
